The Rice Festival is an idea so conceptualized with the following objectives: The promotion of San Jose City`s products; Rice Revival of Cultural Heritage - the origin comes from Pagibang Damara and most important, the thanksgiving to our Great Provider for a bountiful harvest.
Based on the statistical data from crops production report of the City Agriculture Office covering the last three (3) years palay’s earned an average of 50,180 metric tons. Covering land area of 1.787 hectares planted with Hybrid Rice gave a world track record with a total of 332 cavans per hectare. We gained no. 1 biggest harvest of Hybrid Rice in the tropical country and no. 3 in the whole world.
As a result of bountiful harvest and good price resulted as upswing of the local economy.
